Why not restart the blog. Been out of work since December. Finding a job has been tough, it's going to get tougher with the state of the world right now.

In early March, we drove to Las Vegas to see my brother-in-law.
Along the way we stopped in Silverton, TX. There is a small Gallery there, Ghost Horse Gallery and Night Owl Expresso and Tea Bar. We happened to find out about this from an episode of the Texas Country Reporter Texas Country Reporter. It's a cool gallery, the owner Tammy does the sculptures, the Night Owl is owned and operated by the "blind barista" in Silverton as Rowdy says.

It's a stones throw away from Caprock Canyon State Park home of the Texas State Bison Herd. It's about and hour away from Palo Duro Canyon State Park the second largest canyon in the US. That part of North West Texas is flat and then the ground just opens up. We were going to try and go to Palo Duro, but there was a line of cars at the entrance, first day of spring break for some schools in Texas, and we were on our way to Fort Sumner, NM.
Fort Sumner, NM whats there, well its the resting place of Billy the Kid.
So we drove US 60 from Canyon, TX to Fort Sumner, NM. Along the way you go through Hereford, TX, which by the smell is known as the "Beef Capital of the World". The whole strech of US 60 from Hereford to Bovina, TX is all cattle fed area, rich in smell.
Crossing onto New Mexico we drove through Clovis, NM home to Cannon AFB.

On to Fort Sumner, NM, Billy the Kid's grave is on the east side of town down Billy the Kid drive. The grave is in Fort Sumner’s old military cemetery. It's really not much to see, Billy is buried with two of his pals, and the entire gravesite is now enclosed within a steel cage, because the tombstone has been stolen multiple times.

Right next to the cemetery is Fort Sumner Historic Site/Bosque Redondo Memorial. This place is another dark chapter in our national history, where the Navajo and Mescalero Apache people were forced to be interned there against there will from 1863-1868.
After leaving there we drove to Albuquerque, NM to spend the night.
End of day one.
